Healthy Before You Get Pregnant |
Healthy Start received a grant from the Florida Department of Health to implement a social marketing campaign to increase public awareness of the importance of preconception health behaviors that lead to healthy lifestyles in preparation for pregnancy.
This campaign consists of marketing in four media: cable television, radio, billboard and printed materials.

Baby Road Show |
The Healthy Start Coalition, with help from the March of Dimes, is offering local hospital labor and delivery units and OB/GYN offices a lunch and learn opportunity to find out more about positive maternal and child health support available in our community.
Because of the fast pace and full schedule that is routine at hospitals and physician offices, Healthy Start will be taking the show on the road. Healthy Start will schedule one-hour sessions for breakfast, lunch or light dinner. Dates are available to schedule between March 2007 and March 2008.
Topics to be discussed at the “Healthy Baby Road Show” will include:

- Printed materials promoting healthy pregnancies and lifestyles
- Overview of the Healthy Start screening process
- Healthy Start screening rates
- Healthy Start programs and services
- Local birth statistics

Start Hour |
Healthy Start Hour, funded by the Workforce Development Board, is an educational supplement to the Teenage Parenting Program, also known as TAPP.
Healthy Start visits the TAPP program bi-monthly with materials and information on the following topics:

- Goal Setting
- Pregnancy & Body Image
- Swaddling your crying baby
- Taming your toddlers
- Role modeling behavior

Abstinence
Education

The Healthy Start staff has been trained in the Florida Abstinence Education Program, as part of the
"It's Great to Wait" abstinence education campaign. They
are available to give presentations to teens in Okaloosa and Walton Counties regarding sexual abstinence as the healthiest choice.
