nutrition, healthy habits, and a positive state of mind for the new
mom are important for a healthy baby. Healthy Start can help you
learn how to have a healthy, baby-friendly lifestyle. |

For
a Healthy Baby: |
- Get
prenatal care as soon as possible
- Eat
nutritious food
- Take
Folic Acid
- Don't
smoke or drink alcohol
- Don't
use any drugs without a doctor's prescription

Because
Healthy Babies: |
- Require
fewer doctor visits
- Have
fewer developmental problems
- Do
well in school because of fewer learning problems

obtain Healthy
Start services, be sure to say YES when offered a Healthy Start
screen:

- Prenatally
with OB/GYN physician
- Postnatally
at the hospital where your baby is born
- Or,
